Ferrari has announced the winners of its Top Design School Challenge, and the jury gave a special mention to finalist Roman Egorov for his innovative Ferrari FL design, which was the only entry to focus exclusively on the interior of tomorrow's supercars.

Egorov's ultra-lightweight interior features a floating headrest design and no pedals; instead, all handling is provided by the steering unit.

"Acceleration and braking is controlled by moving the steering wheel along the axis," Egorov, who studies at the Hochschule Pforzheim in Germany, explained in his design plan, which foresees an individually designed floor plan for each customer.

Ferrari launched its Top Design School Challenge in October 2014 for the third time, after contests in 2005 and 2012. On Friday, the carmaker announced that its jury had named the Ferrari Manifesto design from the ISD-Rubika in Valenciennes (France) the winner of its 'Gran Premio Assoluto.'

Another prize, the 'Premio Speciale,' was awarded to the 'de Esfera' design by a team at Hongik University in Seoul, whose design was voted the winner of an online poll.
