ATHENS (Sputnik) – Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency Director General Dmitry Kiselev welcomed the launch of the Sputnik Express Greek-language radio program and explained its benefits to the Greek audience Wednesday.
"I am very glad that we are launching this noble project <…> so that Greeks, who have a clear and traditional interest in what is happening in Russia, and the Russian stance in the world, could receive such information," Kiselev said during the program broadcast for the first time over the radio.
He pointed out that Russia’s feelings toward Greece had always been warm and respectful.
"Unlike Europe, which considers Greece to be the cradle of democracy but is still skeptical, and as I believe arrogant, about it, you will never come across this sentiment in Russia. We always treat Greeks with gratitude, affection and support. And that is at the core of our project," Kiselev said.
Bilateral relations between Russia and Greece will be celebrated with special events throughout the year.
The portal aims to provide comprehensive coverage of political, economic and cultural events both in Russia and in Greece. The website will cover Russian-Greek relations, as well as the two countries’ traditions and culture, and will include photos and videos. News content produced by Rossiya Segodnya and ANA-MPA about the two countries will also be available on the website.
