The United States is still investigating ways to respond to Iran’s November ballistic missile test, including imposing new sanctions, State Department spokesman John Kirby said on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In late December, US lawmakers and media reported that the US Treasury alerted them to new Iranian sanctions, which were later recalled.

"You have seen us respond through a sanctions regime to their [Iran’s] ballistic missile activity in the past, and I fully expect that you will see us respond appropriately in the future," Kirby said.

The State Department would not respond to whether new sanctions would be implemented against Iran, but noted that "there are some technical issues we are still working through."
