North Korea's Nuclear Bomb Testing 'Clear Violation' of UNSC Resolutions
ROME (Sputnik) — Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni called on North Korea to comply with its international obligations.

"The nuclear test carried out this morning by North Korea is a grave violation of international law and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council of the United Nations and a serious threat to peace as well as international and regional security," the ministry said in a statement.

Gentiloni is due to hold phone talks with Fumio Kishida, the Foreign Minister of Japan, as the country currently presides at the G7 group, to discuss the necessary reactions of the international community to the "provocation," according to the statement.

Earlier in the day, Pyongyang announced it had successfully conducted its first hydrogen bomb test. The move prompted a number of countries to consider the possibility of imposing restrictive measures against North Korea.
