The Russian national ice hockey team on Tuesday won silver at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship (WJC) as it was defeated by Finland, which hosted the tournament.

HELSINKI (Sputnik) — Finland defeated Russia 4-3, winning the World Juniors for the fourth time in its history. The winning goal of the Helsinki tournament was scored by Kasperi Kapanen.

The IIHF Ice Hockey World Junior Championships is an annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for national under-20 ice hockey teams from around the world.

First held in 1977, it is traditionally scheduled for late December, ending in the beginning of January.
