"In Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes coordinated with and in support of the government of Iraq using fighter, attack, and bomber aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets."

Meanwhile in Iraq, 17 airstrikes hit staging locations, a Daesh headquarters, sniper positions, rocket propelled grenade positions and tactical units.

The US-led coalition of 65 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh in Iraq since August 2014 and in Syria since September 2014, but without the approval of the Syrian government or the UN Security Council.

Daesh is a designated terrorist organization that is outlawed in numerous states including in Russia.
