Update to Anti-Russian Sanctions List 'Routine Step, Not Escalation'
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier on Tuesday, the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control named 34 individuals and entities under Ukraine-related sanctions that target a number of subsidiaries of Russia's VTB Bank, Sberbank, and Rostec, as well as Kalashnikov Concern and Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod. The sanctioned individuals include Gennady Timchenko, Arkady Rotenberg, and Boris Rotenberg.

"This is the continuation of the logic-defying unfriendly stance towards Russia…the continuation of the stance, which has a devastating impact on bilateral relations," Peskov told reporters.

"These decisions will be analyzed, and possible counter measures will be considered. As it is known, in such cases the principle of reciprocity prevails," Peskov added.

The United States, the European Union and their allies imposed several rounds of sanctions on Russia in 2014 over Moscow's alleged meddling in Ukraine’s internal affairs. The allegations have repeatedly been refuted by Russia.
