US Citizens Among Dead, Wounded in Suicide Attack on Afghanistan Base

A suicide bomber killed and wounded several US citizens in an attack near Bagram Air Base in northern Afghanistan, US media reported on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The exact number of American victims of the incident remains unclear, but NATO officials have said six coalition forces were killed and 3 wounded in the bombing, MSNBC reported.

Afghanistan continues to be in political and social turmoil as both the Taliban and other extremist organizations such as Daesh take advantage of the country’s persistent security gaps and instability.

The US-led NATO mission formally ended its International Security Assistance Force combat operations in Afghanistan on December 31, 2014, but it transitioned to a non-combat mission in the country.
