Second Spanish Police Officer Dies After Kabul Embassy District Attack

One of the missiles reportedly landed in Kabul’s district, where numerous foreign diplomatic missions are located.

On December 11, a car bomb detonated in Kabul's Sherpor area, the location of several embassies and government buildings, close to the Spanish diplomatic mission, killing eight people, including two Spanish police officers. The blast was followed by heavy gunfire.

Islamist militant group Taliban later claimed responsibility for the attack, however, it specified that the Spanish Embassy had not been its target.
