Paris Climate Deal to Be Partially Binding – Environmental Watchdog
PARIS (Sputnik) The Paris climate deal should ensure that developing countries and the least developed countries are supported in meeting their climate targets, the executive director of the nonprofit organization ActionAid international said Thursday.

"[The] Paris agreement must provide adequate support for transformation in a just manner, it must ensure that public finance and technology transfer provide us with support to change in developing countries, it is a core part of the fair-share obligations of rich countries," Adriano Campolina said on the sideline of the 21st UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris.

He stressed that developing countries must also fulfill their obligation.

The French capital is currently hosting the COP21, due to end on December 11. Representatives of over 190 countries are expected to reach an agreement to address global warming and cut carbon emissions, introducing a legally binding and universal strategy on the issue, which is due to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.
