ATHENS (Sputnik) – In recent weeks, the ruling coalition has lost several votes and has 153 votes now, which is only two more than what is needed to make decisions in the 300-seat parliament. Tsipras, however, said Monday he did not see the need to invite other parties to get extra votes in the parliament.
"We don’t need this. I feel safe with the governmental majority of lawmakers. The expansion of the government is not needed. The elections were two months ago, the people spoke their mind," Tsipras told the ERT television channel.
The left-wing Syriza party won the parliamentary elections in Greece, held on September 20, after Tsipras resigned from the post in August to bring about snap elections in a bid to gain public support for the austerity reforms he backed to secure financial aid from international creditors and keep the country in the Eurozone.
