BRUSSELS (Sputnik) Speaking after the EU Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) in Brussels, Sapin told reporters that he had proposed to his EU partners to extend asset freezes to different types of property.

"I mean immovable assets such as apartments, as well as cars and even public welfare payments to individuals in European countries that are used directly to finance terrorist activities of these individuals," the minister said.

EU’s 28 finance ministers met in Brussels to discuss ways to stop financial flows to terrorists, including tighter controls on bank transfers and measures to prevent terrorists from smuggling and selling artifacts pillaged from museums and historical sites in controlled territories.
