Moscow Supports Stabilization Process in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Moscow confirmed its determination to support the stabilization process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov held a meeting with Nebojsa Radmanovic, a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency.

"A detailed exchange of views on the ways to further develop cooperation between Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in various areas was held in an atmosphere of partnership… The Russian side reaffirmed its support for the stabilization process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressed the importance of its promotion in strict accordance with the provisions of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina," the ministry said in a statement.

Both sides also expressed their willingness to deepen political dialogue and to enhance bilateral relations in trade, economics and cultural areas, the statement continued.

The General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina was signed after the Bosnian War at the US Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, located in Dayton, Ohio, on November 21, 1995.

The accord aims to promote peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and guarantee the regional balance between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska.
