MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Daesh's claim reportedly came in an online audio broadcast three days after US-born Syed Rizwan Farook and his Pakistani wife Tashfeen Malik opened fire with assault rifles at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, some 60 miles east of Los Angeles, Toronto Sun news outlet reported Saturday.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said Friday it had found indications that the two perpetrators had been under the influence of radical ideas but there was no evidence that the couple were members of a terrorist group.
A US-led international coalition has been conducting airstrikes on the group’s positions in Iraq and Syria since 2014.
Russia launched its own anti-Daesh aerial campaign in Syria in late September, following a request by Syrian President Bashar Assad. The jihadist group is outlawed in Russia.
