No Political Contacts Between London, Moscow in Anti-Daesh Fight in Syria

No political contacts have been set up between Moscow and London in the fight against Daesh (also known as ISIL or the Islamic State), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Peskov said that he was unaware of any contacts between the military branches of the two countries.

“I haven’t heard of any kind of contacts between the Russian and British militaries,” Peskov said.

An amendment blocking the launch of UK airstrikes in Syria was defeated in the British parliament on Wednesday. Later, 397 British lawmakers approved the extension of anti-Daesh airstrikes to Syria.

On Thursday, Peskov said that the Kremlin welcomed any actions in the fight against terrorism, but a coalition could considerably increase effectiveness.
