TBILISI (Sputnik) — Georgia's ruling President Giorgi Margvelashvili will decide in the next few days on revoking ex-leader Mikheil Saakashvili's Georgian citizenship, the president's parliamentary secretary Giorgi Kverenchkhiladze said Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Georgia's justice ministry stated that it had addressed the ruling president on the matter.

According to local legislation, a Georgian citizen automatically loses his citizenship if he becomes the citizen of another country. Saakashvili also holds Ukrainian citizenship and currently serves as governor of Ukraine's Odessa region.
