BERLIN (Sputnik) – Germany does not have evidence that Turkey is buying oil from territories under the control of Daesh, also known as ISIL/The Islamic State militants, a source in the German Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
"I can only repeat to you what was said on December 1 briefing by [German government spokesman] Stefan Seibert… We don't have such information," the source told RIA Novosti.
On Tuesday, Seibert said that Germany did not have reliable evidence that the Turkish government was engaged in commercial operations involving Daesh oil and therefore Berlin would refrain from making accusations.
On Wednesday, the head of the Russian General Staff operative command, Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy, said that oil from areas in Syria seized by Daesh, a group outlawed in Russia, was transported to Turkey and shipped to refineries in other countries. Rudskoy added that Russian data was based on reconnaissance from space.
