A group of activists gathered in the Crimean city of Simferopol on Friday and burned a straw figure of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after a Russian Su-24 bomber was shot down by a Turkish jet.

Earlier, protests were held in front of the Turkish embassy in Moscow and the Turkish Consulate General in St. Petersburg.

A Su-24 of the Russian Air Force was shot down by a Turkish F-16 jet over Syria on November 24. The pilot was killed, and the navigator was rescued. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a "stab in the back by accomplices of terrorists."
