The airstrikes near four Syrian cities, including Raqqa and Mara, hit ISIL tactical units, fighting positions and multiple vehicles on Monday, the Central Command said.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition against the Islamic State (ISIL) conducted 26 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq, the US Central Command said in a press release on Tuesday.

“In Syria, coalition military forces conducted nine strikes using attack, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft,” the release said. “Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq.”

The airstrikes near four Syrian cities, including Raqqa and Mara, hit ISIL tactical units, fighting positions and multiple vehicles on Monday, the Central Command said.

The coalition conducted 17 airstrikes near six Iraqi cities to the north and west of Baghdad, including Ramadi and Sinjar. The strikes hit multiple IS tactical units and fighting positions, as well as other infrastructure targets.

Meanwhile, Russia has also continued its airstrikes campaign against the Islamic State in Syria. Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday that Russian Aerospace Forces have carried out 141 sorties over the past two days, striking 472 terrorist targets in Syria.
