The United States has no plans to offer sanctions relief to Russia in exchange for greater contribution in fight against the Islamic State, White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earnest added that Russia has a "significant incentive" to step up its efforts against ISIL, but that the "kind of sanctions relief that we know that Russia would like" would be granted once the Minsk agreements are fully implemented.

"I do not envision a scenario in which sanctions relief is offered to Russia in exchange for greater contributions to ISIL," Earnest said during a press briefing.
