MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and South Korean Ambassador to Russia Park Ro-byug discussed the Syrian issue and counter-terrorism efforts on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"There was an exchange of opinions regarding the current state of Russian-Korean relations and the future outlook for them. Certain regional and global problems were also mentioned, including the situation in Syria and international counter-terrorist cooperation," the statement said.

The South Korean ambassador has previously expressed his embassy's mission in developing a "diplomacy of trust" with Russia, with the goal of securing peace on the Korean peninsula, in northeastern Asia and in Eurasia as a whole, according to Park's statement on the embassy's website.
