LONDON (Sputnik) – The United Kingdom will not cancel rail and air links with France following last week's deadly attacks in Paris, British Prime Minister David Cameron said Wednesday.
"It is very important the Eurostar [railway service] continues to function, the flights continue to go, that people continue to travel to enjoy London, to enjoy Paris and carry on going about our business," Cameron said in a House of Commons session.
Cameron echoed opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn’s expression of solidarity with France, but said robust border checks resulted in 6,000 EU nationals denied entry to Britain since 2010, and 95,000 overall.
Two suspected assailants were killed early on Wednesday during a raid in the northern Parisian suburb of Saint Denis, including a female suicide bomber who detonated an explosive device. Seven arrests have been made and five officers have been injured.
The alleged mastermind behind the attacks, Belgium-born Abdelhamid Abaaoud was reportedly not among those arrested.
