MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United States verbally backs Russia in the fight against the Islamic State militant group, however, no concrete steps in cooperation are expected, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
"The necessity to fight ISIL is something where the Russian and US interests and positions fully coincide and despite tactical disputes, the strategic goal- fighting ISIL — is something where we have similar positions," Peskov told reporters.
Peskov added that US President Barack Obama's words of support were most likely just that: "verbal support."
