WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Islamic State (ISIL) terrorists are at war with all civilizations, Secretary of State John Kerry said in an address from the US embassy in Paris.
“This is not a clash of civilizations. These terrorists have declared war against all civilizations,” Kerry said on Monday. “This is a battle between civilization itself and barbarism.”
Kerry travelled to Paris in the aftermath of the Friday terrorist attacks on the French capital that left at least 129 dead and more than 350 injured. Upon his arrival, the US embassy was lit in colors of the French flag to show solidarity with Paris.
“Paris has known even darker moments, and it has overcome them,” Kerry said. “We will never be intimidated by terrorists.”
The secretary of state added that the US authorities do not intend to change their plans and will participate in the summit on climate change in Paris on November 30 through December 11.
