ANTALYA (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Barack Obama shook hands at the G20 summit in Antalya, Turkey, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported on Sunday.
The two leaders also spoke before the traditional G20-member heads of state photograph.
On Friday, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that no official meeting between Putin and Obama was planned for the G20 summit, but the two leaders could still meet during regular events.
The 10th summit of G20 Leaders kicked off on Sunday in Antalya, Turkey, bringing together member states plus Azerbaijan, Spain, Malaysia, Senegal, Singapore and Zimbabwe.
The organizers of the two-day event are expecting around 13,000 guests, and the summit will be covered by almost 2,500 journalists. Leaders will discuss current global economics and world terrorism at the event, in over 70 meetings.
