Russian, Iranian FMs Discuss Syria Ahead of Next Vienna Meeting

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif have discussed the coordination of international anti-terrorism efforts in Syria, Russia's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The next meeting on the Syrian settlement will take place in Vienna on Saturday, November 14.

"Ahead of another meeting of the Syria support group in Vienna on November 14, the ministers noted the need for constructive approaches and coordination of international efforts to combat terrorism and promote the launch of an intra-Syrian political dialogue," the ministry said in a statement.

On October 30, top diplomats from almost 20 countries, including Russia and the United States, as well as UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, met in the Austrian capital of Vienna to discuss efforts to end to the four-year war in Syria.
