UK Suspends Flights to Sharm El-Sheikh After Uncovering Terrorist Bomb Plot
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — A bomb implanted aboard a plane might be the root cause for the Russian airliner crash over the Sinai Peninsula on Saturday, US President Barack Obama said.

“I think there's a possibility that there was a bomb on board, and we are taking that very seriously," Obama was quoted as saying by CNN on Thursday.

On October 31, a Russian airliner carrying 224 people crashed in the Sinai Peninsula while flying from the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh en route to St. Petersburg.

“We're going to spend a lot of time just making sure our own investigators and own intelligence community find out what's going on before we make any definitive pronouncements,” Obama said. “But it's certainly possible that there was a bomb on board.”

On Wednesday, the Office of the UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced that all flights from Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport to the United Kingdom were suspended because of the suspicion that the Russian airliner "may well have been" brought down by a bomb.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier in the day that no theory on the Kogalymavia flight crash can be excluded, and it is too early to point to one specific version of events.
