CAIRO (Sputnik) — On Saturday, a Russian Airbus A321 plane carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members crashed en route from Sharm El-Sheikh to St. Petersburg in the Sinai Peninsula, killing all people aboard.
According to several media reports, an explosion of a small bomb in the luggage compartment could have led to a depressurization of the plane’s cabin, a possible cause of the crash.
“Several stages of luggage control. At first, [it is checked] on entering the airport with the use of tracker dogs. Then before the passenger reaches a check-in desk the luggage is checked with the use of X-ray detector,” the spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
