MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian Emergencies Ministry intends to use drones in order to inspect the Russian Kogalymavia Airbus crash site of more than 8 square miles, an Emergencies Ministry's representative said Sunday.
On Saturday, Russian Kogalymavia Airbus crashed on the Sinai Peninsula about 23 minutes after take-off while en route from Sharm El-Sheikh to St.Petersburg. All 224 people on board were killed in the crash.
"Exactly over this area of over 20 square kilometers [8 square miles] a complete scanning of the zone using unmanned aerial vehicles will be conducted," the representative said.
The representative added that all work is being carried out in close cooperation with the relevant Egyptian authorities and the Russian embassy.
The Russian Kogalymavia Airbus crash has become the major air catastrophe in the history of Russian aviation.
