Casualties Reported as Explosion Occurs Near Prison in Western Afghanistan

An explosion occurred Wednesday near the gate of the central prison in the Western Afghanistan province of Herat, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Eyewitnesses claimed that three people were injured in the explosion, including two civilians, however a security source said that only one correctional officer was injured as a result of the blast, the Kabul-based television network ArianaNews wrote on its Facebook page.

The injured have been taken to the nearest hospital, according to the broadcaster.
