WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Israeli Defense Minister will make a trip to Washington next week and will visit the Pentagon, US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter stated on Friday.

“I look forward to consultation with Israel’s Defense Minister Boogie [Moshe] Yaalon when he arrives in Washington next week,” Carter told reporters.

Israeli and US defense officials met in Tel Aviv last week to reopen talks on extending a $3 billion military aid package, according to media reports.

Talks on extending the deal beyond 2017 were called off by Israel in August following the US signing of the Iran nuclear agreement.
