After suffering malfunctions Wednesday evening, the US government’s computer system responsible for monitoring terror watch lists is back online.

The system, run by the US Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for checking airline passengers against terror watch lists.

US Custom and Border Protection officials told NBC News that the glitch involved computers and kiosks in airports nationwide.

Senior government officials said that the delays lasted from approximately 8:22 to 9:06, and caused heavy airport delays in Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Charlotte, Baltimore, and JFK in New York.
