Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said that the European Commission is partially responsible for the migration crisis, in part for its inability to respond quickly and energetically.

PRAGUE (Sputnik) – The Czech Republic is determined to find out what happened to funds disbursed to southern European countries to protect the southern border of the Schengen area, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said Wednesdsay.

"I can assure you that the Czech Republic will ascertain what happened with the funds that the countries on the outer border had received to protect the outer Schengen area, it is possible that the funds were not used in a clear and effective manner," Sobotka said, as quoted by the Ceske noviny portal.

According to the politician, the European Commission is partially responsible for the migration crisis, in part for its inability to respond quickly and energetically.

The European Union is struggling to manage a massive refugee crisis, with a growing number of undocumented immigrants attempting to cross into EU member countries and apply for asylum.

Prague has sent about 650 soldiers to the Austrian border to provide assistance to police officers earlier this month in a large influx of undocumented immigrants.
