Russian energy giant Gazprom has renewed gas deliveries to Ukraine after it received $234 million in prepayment after a three-month pause, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – “At 10:00 this morning [07:00 GMT], Gazprom began deliveries of gas to Ukraine. A prepayment of $234 million from the promised $500 million for October was received from Ukraine’s Naftogaz,” Miller told journalists.

He said that Kiev had requested the maximum volume of 114 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Ukraine to Buy Over 2 Bln Cubic Meters of Russian Gas Under Winter Deal
Moscow, Kiev and the European Commission reached a deal last month on Russian gas deliveries to Ukraine during the peak consumption period, which started on October 1 of this year and continues until the end of March in 2016.

Ukraine halted all natural gas purchases from Gazprom last July after the parties failed to agree on the terms of gas deliveries for the third quarter of 2015.

The price of Russian gas for Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2015 will be around $248-252 per 1,000 cubic meters, according to Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.
