MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Red Cross head George Kettaneh said none of those hospitalized had life-threatening injuries, according to the National News Agency.
Security forces reportedly used water cannons and tear gas to disperse dozens of protesters who gathered overnight in downtown Beirut. Clashes erupted after police barricaded the road to the Lebanese parliament building and the central Martyrs' Square.
Demonstrations started in Beirut in July after the government had failed to move huge garbage piles from the city streets.
