Russian Airstrikes Destroy 40% of ISIL's Infrastructure in a Week
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition launched two airstrikes targeting Islamic State (ISIL) militants in Syria amid Russia’s air operation against ISIL terrorists in the Arab republic, the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced in a statement on Thursday.

Recently, the US-led coalition has made an apparent scale back in its air operations in Syria since Moscow began launching airstrikes against the ISIL in the country last week.

"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted two strikes using fighter aircraft," CJTF-OIR said.

Near the Syrian town of al-Hawl the US coalition’s airstrikes destroyed an ISIL crude oil collection plant and an oil pump.

Russia’s Sukhoi Su-25, Su-24M and Su-34 attack aircraft, with the support of Su-30 jets, commenced precision airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria on September 30, following a request from Syrian President Bashar Assad.

On Thursday, Russian aircraft carried out on 22 combat missions over Syria striking 27 ISIL targets. The airstrikes destroyed eight Islamic State fortified positions in the Homs province, 11 suspected training camps in the Hama and Raqqa provinces, a command center in the Idlib province, a fuel depot in the Aleppo province.

Separately in Iraq, the US-led coalition conducted 18 airstrikes "coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using bomber, fighter, attack, fighter-attack and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets," CJTF-OIR said.

In Iraq, the US coalition’s airstrikes hit ISIL tactical units, weapons caches, buildings, sniper positions and home-made explosive facilities.

The US-led coalition of 62 nations has conducted airstrikes in Syria since September 2014, albeit without the approval of the UN Security Council or the Syrian government.

Russian aircraft deployed in Syria have delivered more than 100 airstrikes against IS positions, destroying terrorists’ command centers, headquarters, infrastructure and equipment.
