An officer responding to an emergency call on Saturday evening fatally struck a 21-year-old man with his police cruiser, then checked on his car instead of performing life-saving CPR on his victim.

Witnesses are disputing law enforcement’s official story surrounding the man killed by an East Cleveland police officer Sunday evening around 9:50 PM.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol determined that the officer had his emergency lights on at the time of the incident. Witnesses, however, are disputing this claim.

They have also blasted the police officer, stating that they watched him check on his car instead of his victim.

"I hear a bunch of sirens going down Euclid, next thing you know we hear a boom, a cruiser with no lights, I see a cop checking out his car," witness Samer Zayed told ABC5.

So far, no video has been made public of the incident, dashcam or otherwise, but at least one witness did film the aftermath.

The police cruiser's windshield was shattered by the man’s body.

“The officer, when the officer got out of the car, the officer went around the man, the young man on the ground, and checked his windshield out,” one witness stated.

“Then he put his hands on his hips. And everybody was like, ‘What the f*ck are you doing? The guy you hit is on the ground. He’s dying. He’s dying.'”

According to witness reports, a second officer eventually arrived on the scene and attempted CPR, but those efforts were unsuccessful.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The officer was also taken to a hospital for treatment, and his injuries remain unknown but are said to be non-life-threatening.

The names of the officer involved or the victim have not yet been released to the public.
