WASHINGTON (Sputnik) —Amtrak management is responding to the reported derailment of Train 55 – the Vermonter – in the area of Roxbury, Vermont, the release said.
Amtrak added that there have been no immediate reports of any life-threatening injuries to the passengers of the train.
US media reported that four passengers were hospitalized as a result of the incident.
The derailed train reportedly struck a rock on the tracks while traveling from Saint Albans, Vermont, to Washington, DC, according to the release.
On May 12, Amtrak train 188 derailed near Philadelphia, killing eight passengers and injuring more than 200. In the result, Amtrak service between New York City and Washington, DC was suspended for six days.
