Donetsk Calls for Prolonging Minsk Deals
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not rule out that the Minsk agreements on Ukraine could be extended beyond 2015 but said the deadline for the implementation should be worked out.

“Yesterday in Paris [the Normandy Four leaders] discussed that one cannot rule out that we will not manage till New Year. And of course, in this case the Minks agreements will be extended for a period beyond New Year. But this cannot last forever. A more precise deadline should be set,” Peskov said in an interview with Sergey Brilev, host of the Vesti v Subbotu (Saturday News) television show.

The Kremlin spokesman reminded that Russia sees no alternative to the Minsk deals.

According to Peskov, Kiev’s lack of interest in full settlement of the country's internal conflict leads to delays in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Peskov noted that many of the documents necessary for the successful implementation of the peace deal had already been passed by the Verkhovna Rada. The documents only need to be signed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in order to take effect.

“Any delays in the implementation of the Minsk agreements, of course, once again show, well let's say, a probable lack of interest in a comprehensive settlement," Peskov said in an interview with Sergey Brilev, host of the Vesti v Subbotu (Saturday News) television show.
