A 24-year-old Lithuanian woman has been sentenced to ten years in prison for her role in a child sex trafficking scheme, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced in a statement.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On June 26, Ruseckaite pleaded guilty to assisting her boyfriend — now serving a 40 year prison sentence for his role in the scheme — in trafficking and prostituting a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old girl.

"Giedre Ruseckaite, 24, a Lithuanian citizen who has resided in Nevada, was sentenced today to 120 months in prison for sex trafficking of a child," the FBI said on Friday.

According to the FBI, Ruseckaite would give alcohol and drugs to the girls so that they would be able to "work longer without sleep."

Ruseckaite also helped in running her boyfriend Lenny Paul Haskins' sex trafficking business while he was in jail, and smuggled the profits so that he could make payments and telephone calls.

In 2014, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center received some 3,598 reports of sex trafficking cases in the United States.

The International Labor Organization estimates some 4.5 million people around the world are forced into sexual exploitation.
