Turkey Must Not Equate Kurds With Terrorists - PACE President
STRASBOURG (Sputnik) — The member states of the European Union must address the issue of integrating refugees locally to successfully deal with the migrant crisis, the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) said Friday.

"What is important, and it is the next step — integration. And here it comes to the local level, because integration cannot be made on a national scale… We need local action, because you need solution and the strategy," Anne Brasseur said.

Brasseur added that a global solution to the massive EU migrant crisis must be found by the UN Refugee Agency.

According to the PACE president, the EU states should anticipate integration issues, coupled with the danger of growing right-wing, populist parties and movements, which "destabilize our democracies."

Germany Struggling to Cope With 600,000 Refugees, Urges All-EU Decision
Earlier this week, refugees in several countries, including in Germany, went on strike to protest against what they see as poor food and housing conditions.

Brasseur added that such protests conducted by refugees were also increasing the pressure from right-wing movements.

Europe is currently facing an enormous migration crisis with hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing violence and poverty in the Middle East and North Africa and heading for the bloc.

The number of migrants and refugees arriving in the bloc could total some 700,000 by the end of 2015, according to the International Organization for Migration.
