Czech police reportedly found self-made weapons in a refugee camp in the northeast of the country.

PRAGUE (Sputnik) — Czech police found a wide variety of self-made weapons in a refugee camp in the village of Vysni Lhoty in the northeast of the country, local media reported.

"Police have been called to the refugee camp by its Czech employees, who found a few broken chairs and tables and suspected that something was wrong. Upon arrival, police conducted body searches of refugees and their belongings and found a lot of sharp objects," the local Idnes news portal reported on Saturday.

Refugee Chaos: 'Europe Can Only Blame Itself and US for Migrant Crisis'
Among the self-made weapons the police have found knives and forks stolen from the camp’s canteen, knives made of metal parts of broken chairs and tables, blades attached to wooden handles and other sharp objects.

According to police, some 240 inhabitants of the camp, primary from the conflict-torn countries in the Middle East and North Africa, need these weapons to feel safer among neighbours since scuffles in the facility take place on a daily basis.

Over 6,000 migrants have been detained in the Czech Republic in 2015, the number two times higher than for the same period in 2014.

It comes as Europe is currently struggling with the largest migrant crisis since World War II. According to the European Commission, over 500,000 undocumented migrants have arrived in the bloc since the beginning of 2015.
