The Gaia Foundation’s Alternative to 'Growth-At-All-Costs' Capitalism

The Gaia Foundation has organised viable alternatives to the ‘growth-at-all-costs’ capitalism that presently rules the world. Phillipe Sibaud describes in some length how the Foundation’s economic models such as ‘Yes To Life’ and ‘No To Mining Network’ offer a chance to construct economic systems that can improve the way we live.

The continued production of high tech gadgets, which have a built-in planned obsolescence date, is criticised by Mr. Sibaud. The irresponsible and ineffective way that high tech waste products are disposed of in third world countries is also debated. But how can change be brought about? What should the driving forces be? Perhaps governments should be named and shamed when they infringe upon what local citizens see in third world countries as being their rights.
