The Danish government should provide local law enforcement with better ammunition and training programs to prevent terrorist attacks in the country, similar to those seen in February, the Danish National Police said Friday.

Danish Police Slammed for Poor Response to Deadly Copenhagen Attacks
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Denmark's capital, Copenhagen, saw two terror attacks on February 14 when Islamist gunman Omar Abdel Hussein opened fire during a free speech seminar and again at a synagogue, killing two civilians, before being shot dead by law enforcement officers.

Danish police recommend implementing a new weapons training program for officers and to upgrade officers’ ammunition to ensure “a fast and effective neutralization of an attacking gunman wearing protective gear,” as quoted by The Local.

In addition, police are calling for better coordination between law enforcement units and the inclusion of elements of mental preparedness in officer training.

The February shootings in Copenhagen were inspired by a string of terrorist attacks in Paris in January, where 17 people were killed in Islamist attacks against the Charlie Hebdo magazine and a kosher supermarket.
