Danish foreign minister Kristian Jensen said that Denmark is likely to send fighter jets to Syria.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Denmark is likely to send fighter jets to Syria in an effort to expand its military operations against the Islamic State (ISIL) terrorist group in the Middle East, the country's foreign minister, Kristian Jensen, said.

"I am open but have not made a decision. We will decide on it when we need to send our Danish F-16s out again," Jensen told the Danish Raeson magazine in an interview published on Monday.

Denmark Has No Plans to Boost Military Efforts Against ISIL
In late August, Jensen said that Denmark's forces, including military personnel and aircraft, were expected to return in October from an air base in Kuwait, from where they have been launching airstrikes against ISIL targets in Iraq.

ISIL is a terrorist group that has seized vast areas in Syria and Iraq, and declared an Islamic caliphate on the territories under its control.

A US-led international coalition of some 62 nations has conducted over 6,500 airstrikes against ISIL targets since August 2014.
