Scuffles broke out in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, leaving 38 protesters arrested and 10 injured, local media reported Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The clashes took place ahead of the second round of talks between the country’s rival leaders.

Activists from the movement You Stink staged a shaming demonstration to showcase the government’s failure to resolve the waste disposal crisis, according to RT’s Ruptly video service.

The Naharnet online outlet reported cross-party talks, chaired by parliament speaker Nabig Berri, were due to take place in parliament later on Wednesday.

The Daily Star, meanwhile, said a group of self-identified Berri supporters had attacked protesters and men in plainclothes dismantled tents in downtown Beirut.
