BEIJING (Sputnik) — Beijing and Washington will sign a package of wide-ranging energy, trade and defense deals during President Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States next week, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Wednesday.
"The parties are to reach consensus on energy, trade, humanitarian sphere, climate change, environmental protection, finance, agriculture, defense, law enforcement, aviation and infrastructural development," the Chinese top diplomat said.
The Unites States and Washington will sign off on a "large number of agreements on bilateral cooperation that will have long-term significance," the minister added.
He stressed Xi’s meeting with his US counterpart, Barack Obama, would send a strong positive signal to the world.
The Chinese leader prepares to make a state visit to the United States September 22-25.
