Several UK Shadow secretaries have stepped down following Jeremy Corbyn's election as leader of the British Labour party.

LONDON (Sputnik) — The first lawmaker to announce his resignation was Jamie Reed, the shadow health minister.

Corbyn’s victory has also prompted the shadow education secretary, the shadow minister for work and pensions and the shadow secretary of state for communities and local government to leave their posts since they refused to serve under the hard-left lawmaker.

Corbyn's rivals in the Labour Party leadership race, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall, are also said to have quit the Shadow Cabinet.

The UK Labour leadership vote was initiated after the resignation of its former leader Ed Miliband, after his party dismal result in the May general election.
