Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Sisi accepted Saturday the resignation of the country’s Cabinet of Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The cabinet met earlier on Saturday and decided to submit the resignation to the president, according to Al-Ahram Arabic news website. Sisi told the cabinet to remain in a caretaker role until a new cabinet was formed, the media reported.

The resignation follows the arrest of Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Selah Helal for corruption and accepting bribes.
