KIEV (Sputnik) – Quiet has prevailed in the eastern Ukraine over the last 10 days because heavy artillery has not been observed coming from the eastern regions, Ukrainian Presidential Administration spokesman Andriy Lysenko said Wednesday.

“It’s considerably quiet as a whole on the front for already 10 days, though on the average the ceasefire regime is broken up to 10 times a day, but there is no use of heavy artillery,” Lysenko said during a briefing.

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said there had been no shelling in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbass for a week.
